YTD 4-5
Atlanta's victory yesterday brings me back to within a game of .500. Whoopdee-freakin-doo.
Miami +7
I'm sure I'll be kicking myself round midnight tonight, wondering aloud to my beer why the hell I keep putting my hard earned money on these garbage teams, like I did a month ago last time these two met. But then I'll realize that these teams have been profitable in the past, and will be yet again.
The Jets are overrated, and should prove it to the world tonight. They easily could have lost each of their last four games, including that Dolphins game. The Jets had a +4 TO ratio that day, and the result was still up in the air in the end. Pennington could do nothing against Miami's stellar pass defense, and Miami even had a better average yards per carry behind some dude calling himself Leonard Henry.
New York had to eke out wins against offenseless Buffalo, and downright awful San Fran during their streak as well, and in the game they finally ended up losing to New England they made the Pats' defense look much better than this year's version really is. Hell, even the Dolphins scored 10 points in Foxboro.
Lame duck Wannstedt opened up the playbook last week, and with the success they had I'll assume he'll try to do something similar this week, though I know better than to really trust the guy. Last game Fiedler was pressing to enamor himself to the fans. Remember, before that game he had only played one half of really bad football. But now he's starting to find a groove with Chambers, who missed that first game, and another guy who missed it, RB Sammy Morris, has shown some toughness running as of late, and more importantly, has held onto the football.
Fiedler was responsible for all four TOs in the last game, but I think this time we'll see a wiser, more experienced Fiedler, with better decision making and cohesion with his targets. Sure the Miami O-line still stinks, but I can handle the sacks, as long as he holds on to the football.
I imagine the Jets think they can just run Curtis Martin all day for three yards and a cloud of dust, waiting for Miami to shoot themselves in the foot, and that could happen. But Fiedler can't possibly make the same idiotic mistakes he made in that game... err... can he?
FWIW, I'm also taking Miami +260. The Fins have nothing to lose, while the Jets can tie for the division lead with a victory. A dangerous situation, factoring in both the Monday night and revenge angles. Miami will come to play, and I swear, if Wanny has any more tricks up his sleeve offensively, and can grab an early lead, forcing Pennington to make plays, this could even turn into a rout.
Good luck,
Space.
